Rectitude Lodge No. 4383

Lodge History

Rectitude Lodge No. 4383 is a Lodge in the Province of Yorkshire West Riding, warranted by The United Grand Lodge of England. It is a progressive and growing Lodge that has a good reputation for some of the best ceremonial and ritual as well as friendly and welcoming Festive Boards. This makes it an ideal first choice to start Freemasonry. Warranted in 1921 and consecrated in 1922, Rectitude Lodge has just recently celebrated its centenary.

Meetings

Rectitude Lodge meets at the Masonic Hall, Zetland Street, Wakefield.

Our Lodge Calendar year starts with the Annual Installation meeting on the 1st Friday in February and continues with regular lodge meets on the 1st Friday of each month with a summer recess after our meeting in June until we meet again in October. It is usual to start these meetings at 6.30pm. Our members are happy to get involved in ceremonies and deliver ritual. Newer members are encouraged to get involved during ceremonies but without any pressure applied while the more experienced are always happy to stand in or assist when required.

Lodge Practice Nights

Aside from regular lodge nights, we also have practice nights to prepare for ceremonies, brush up on ritual and for newer members who would like to be involved to learn in a relaxed environment. Practice evenings start at 7pm except for the 1st Friday of each month, the 2nd Friday in February and November, the 3rd Friday from March to May, October and November.

Lodge Membership

Rectitude Lodge comprises individuals from all backgrounds and age ranges from 34 – 86 making an average age of 60.

Members are asked to attend all regular meetings, where possible and we actively support every member from the start of their masonic journey by having both a Lodge Mentor and individual mentors assigned to each member. The latter is there to provide help, support and guidance to their mentee and answer any questions you may have on your journey through Freemasonry.

The Lodge has a strong nucleus of experienced members, with some more recent and younger members who are progressing in their understanding of Freemasonry.

We give a warm welcome to new members and encourage them to take an active part in the Lodge, its ceremonial and its administration. We offer encouragement and support for all members to help them achieve their full potential. In doing so we are flexible in dealing with each individual, recognising that there should be no hard and fast rule for everyone.
